Pirates of the Caribbean. Inception. The Lion King. The Holiday. Movies you remember the music from, no matter how long it’s been since you’ve seen them.

For 35 years, Hans Zimmer has made a significant mark on film music and is considered one of the greatest film composers of all time. Welcome to a concert dedicated to the film music of the legendary composer.

Since his breakthrough with “Rain Man” in 1988, he has composed for over 200 films and TV series. Despite minimal formal music education, he has established himself as one of the significant figures in film history, alongside self-taught geniuses like Leonardo da Vinci and the Wright brothers.

Before his major breakthrough, Zimmer worked as a keyboardist, including with The Buggles, and was even seen in the music video for “Video Killed the Radio Star” from 1979. In the 80s, he founded a studio with another film music composer, envisioning a blend of traditional orchestral sound with electronic instruments, an approach that still influences much of his music.

After the success of “Rain Man,” Hans Zimmer’s name became associated with several major films, including “Driving Miss Daisy.” Although both films won the Oscar for Best Picture, it was with the animated film “The Lion King” in 1994 that Zimmer won his first Oscar for Best Original Score, along with a Golden Globe and two Grammy Awards.

Zimmer has continued to be a central figure in Hollywood, contributing to iconic films such as “Gladiator,” “Black Hawk Down,” “The Da Vinci Code,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Inception,” and “The Dark Knight” trilogy. In 2021, his music for the blockbuster film “Dune” earned him his second Oscar and third Golden Globe.

With credits on 235 films according to IMDb, twelve Oscar nominations, three Golden Globe wins, and four Grammy Awards, Hans Zimmer has solidified his reputation as one of the foremost film music composers, standing shoulder to shoulder with legends like John Williams and Ennio Morricone. At the age of 66, he shows no signs of slowing down.

Note: The concert will be performed without a film on screen. This evening, the music takes center stage.
