All Tomorrow’s Parties is a dance performance that explores how HIV and AIDS affected Norwegian dance in the 1980s and 1990s. Several Norwegian dancers were infected with the virus, lived with HIV, and died of AIDS. But who were they? How did they dance? And most importantly—what would they have danced if they had not been lost?

With All Tomorrow’s Parties, the artists behind the project aim to map the void these dancers left behind and fill it by staging dances that never took place. All Tomorrow’s Parties is a fictional enactment of dances that were never danced.

The performance is followed by a post-show discussion with Matthias Danbolt (Professor of Art History at the University of Copenhagen), Ingvil Førland Hellstrand (Professor of Interdisciplinary Gender Studies at the University of Stavanger), and the artists involved in the project. Light refreshments will be provided for free during the discussion.

This performance of All Tomorrow’s Parties marks the conclusion of Brynjar Åbel Bandlien’s three-year research project titled All Tomorrow’s Parties: Post-pandemic Dancing, supported by HK-Dir’s program for artistic research and development.
