A woman enters a morgue. Before her lies a lifeless body. She examines it. Above, cheerful male voices laugh. Then an arm twitches. The dead awakens, and the dance begins.
Jo Strømgren, one of Norway’s leading choreographers and resident at the Norwegian National Ballet since 2012, blends dance and theatre in The Basement. Four women move through dreams and nightmares, creating a morbid yet captivating exploration of fate, illuminated by fleeting moments of light.
