The Promised Land – Premiere at the Concert Hall on Friday, July 4!

This year marks the 200th anniversary of Norwegian emigration to the USA. This will be commemorated in various ways. The Fjell Choir has chosen this as the theme for its 40th anniversary performance in 2025.

Through words, music, drama, images, and live film, 200 years of Norwegian migration history will be presented. Based on Odd S. Lovoll’s book, The Promised Land, we have sought input and collaboration with academia, archives, museums, libraries, and local history and heritage societies in Vestland and Rogaland. The result is a docu-musical performance that thematically embraces our migration history through humor and seriousness, play and joy, love and longing, sorrow and happiness.
