Bulgarian pianist Martin Ivanov was born into a musical family and started piano lessons at age 4, taught by his mother until he graduated from the National School of Arts in Ruse in 2009.

During his school years, he competed in over 50 piano competitions, winning more than 45 awards. In 2006, he was invited by “Jeunesses Musicales” to tour across Europe, performing in countries like France, Austria, and Romania. In 2008, he received Ruse’s prestigious “21st Century” award for his musical achievements.

In 2009, he began studying under Professor Oleg Maisenberg at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. He has performed at major European festivals, including the “Chopin Festival Nohant” in France.

He debuted in Salle Gaveau, Paris, in 2010, and in 2011 on Slovak National Radio with a noted performance of Stravinsky’s “Three Movements from Petrushka.” That year, he met his future wife, violinist Maria Ramalchanova, and they have since organized concerts and masterclasses across Europe.

In 2017, he began collaborating with Gramola, releasing several successful albums, including Chopin’s waltzes and Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsodies. In 2019, he gave a celebrated recital of all Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsodies in one evening.

Since 2021, he has focused on recording, with upcoming albums including “Martin Ivanov plays Martin Ivanov.” That year, he also debuted in Vienna’s Musikverein, performing Dvorák’s Piano Concerto Op. 33 with conductor Robert Zelzer.
