Christmas is filled with magical tales, and The Nutcracker is one of these. Experience the world-famous ballet in December, with dancers from the renowned Kyiv Grand Ballet on stage!
The original short story “Der Nussknacker und der Mäusekönig” (The Nutcracker and the Mouse King) was written by the German author E.T.A. Hoffman in 1816. Almost 50 years later, the French author Alexandre Dumas wrote a new version of Hoffman’s fairy tales. Dumas’ version was made into a ballet in 1892 with Peter Tchaikovsky’s beautiful, catchy music and choreography by Marius Petipa.
Since then, The Nutcracker has become one of the world’s most famous ballets and a beloved Christmas tale for many. In short, the synopsis is a girl who befriends a nutcracker that comes to life on Christmas Eve and wages a battle against the evil Mouse King.
Please note that the music in this performance is pre-recorded.
Kyiv Grand Ballet is a ballet theater touring in Europe, with classical ballet on the repertoire. The dancers come from Kharkiv and Kyiv in Ukraine.
The tour is presented by the non-profit organization “Kultur for folket” to support Ukrainian classical ballet art and Ukrainian artists who do not have the opportunity to perform in their home country.
