Martha Argerich is widely regarded as one of the greatest pianists of our time and remains one of the most charismatic and uncompromising artists on the international concert stage. On Thursday 11 March she appears at the Stavanger International Piano Festival together with the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Boian Videnoff.
The concert opens with Edward Elgar’s warm and elegant Serenade for Strings. This is followed by Franz Schubert’s luminous Symphony No. 5, a work full of classical poise and youthful vitality.
After the interval comes the highlight of the evening: Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with Martha Argerich as soloist. With her electrifying energy, musical authority and incomparable virtuosity, she has captivated audiences around the world for more than six decades.
